Primary School and Nursery
At Britannia, we have a designated site called ‘The Wonder Wood’ situated at the end of the school field. 'The Wonder Wood' is a unique educational experience and process that offers children the opportunity to succeed and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.
Our children engage in motivating and achievable tasks and activities throughout the year and in almost all weathers. Pupils work with tools, play, learn boundaries of behaviour (both physical and social), grow in confidence and gain self- esteem and motivation, whilst developing an understanding of the natural world.
Wonder Wood Emblem Competition Entries!
A HUGE thank you for your participation! Mrs Saxton was completely overwhelmed with the number of children who entered and has been spending time sharing the entries with colleagues, admiring the inventiveness, creativity, uniqueness and care that has been put into the two hundred plus emblems. The common theme that shines through is the enjoyment and positivity that Wonder Wood sessions embody. Here are some of our favourites.
In Reception we enjoy intertwining arts and crafts with our observations of nature, often using natural materials. Here are some examples of our blossom paintings, conker creature creations using palm drills, pine cone owls and mud paintings of trees.
