This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home?
An email will be sent to parents/carers explaining the plan for remote education.
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach. Where a longer period of remote learning is required, we will take all necessary actions to prepare for formal remote teaching.
What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent / staying at home?
An email will be sent to parents/carers reminding them of their child’s login details for Wonde. This email will also include suggested educational websites and activities that pupils could complete at home.
On the day following children being sent home, remote learning tasks will be available under the year group page tabs on the website. Information regarding the submission of this work will also be available.
Following the first few days of remote education, will my child be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school?
Following the first few days, we will provide a full remote education offer, including recorded or live remote teaching. An email will be sent to parents/carers reminding them of their child’s login details for the Britannia VLE or Google Classroom. We will teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school, wherever possible and appropriate.
Information and tasks will be shared via the year group website pages and school will be in contact with parents via ParentMail. Teachers will set up a live meet to touch base with their class.
Parents/ Carers will already know the overview of the curriculum being taught as we share this information through the school website and newsletters. We will need to make some adaptations in some areas where resourcing is more challenging for parents e.g. Science investigations and practical PE lessons.
How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?
We expect that full remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:
If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. Where full remote education is in place, we take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:
• Please contact the school office if you need the school to lend you devices that enable an internet connection.
• You can also speak to the school office to look into school lending out tablets or laptops.
•We can provide you with paper copies of the work that children are asked to complete.
