Geography

Geography provokes and answers questions about the natural and human world. At Britannia, our children are encouraged to explore the world around them by using local resources, educational visits, residential visits, and contrasting localities to bring life to their learning. When learning about a different locality, the key question for any young Geographer is: what is it like there?
We develop knowledge of a variety of locations and environments throughout the world, an understanding of maps, and a range of problem-solving and investigative skills both inside and outside the classroom. Geography develops the ability to understand and resolve issues about the global environment, as well as explain changes that may have occurred in different locations, habitats and conditions. Geography is mainly taught through our thematic curriculum, which follows a clear progression of skills and knowledge through our Britannia Concepts; we also exploit links with English and Mathematics as much as possible.
