Online Safety
Online Safety at Britannia
Keeping children safe online is a key part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils' wellbeing. We recognise that children access the internet in many different ways, both in school and at home, including through computers, tablets, gaming consoles and mobile phones. It is therefore essential that they develop the knowledge and skills needed to use technology safely, responsibly and confidently.
Online safety is taught throughout the school and is embedded within our Computing and RSHE curriculum. Pupils learn how to stay safe online, protect their personal information, recognise potential risks and respond appropriately to concerns they may encounter when using the internet, social media, online games or messaging platforms. Our approach to online safety reflects our school values and the 4Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reflection, helping pupils to become safe, respectful and responsible digital citizens. As technology continues to evolve, we ensure that our teaching remains relevant and responsive to emerging online safety issues.
We work in partnership with parents and carers to promote safe and positive online experiences for all children. We regularly share information, guidance and useful resources to help families support safe internet use at home. We make use of trusted organisations, including Internet Matters, Childnet and the UK Safer Internet Centre, to access the latest advice and guidance on online safety.
If you have any concerns relating to safeguarding or online safety, please contact the school. Our safeguarding and online safety leads will be happy to offer support and guidance.
