School Meals

Hot and Cool School Meals

At Britannia, children can enjoy a healthy, nutritious and freshly prepared meal each day, cooked on site by our dedicated catering team. We are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring that all pupils have access to balanced meals that support their learning, wellbeing and development.

Our menus are carefully planned to meet the School Food Standards, providing a variety of healthy and appealing choices while encouraging children to develop positive eating habits. Each day, pupils can choose from three meal options, including a vegetarian choice, alongside a selection of fresh vegetables, salad and fruit. A choice of desserts is also available, with healthier options offered regularly.

Pupils may choose their meal on a daily basis, giving them flexibility and variety throughout the week. Fresh drinking water is available at all times.

A hot or cold school meal costs £2.60 per day. Packed lunches for educational visits can be pre-ordered when required and are available at a cost of £2.60 per lunch.

We encourage all children to take advantage of our school meal service and enjoy a healthy, balanced meal as part of a positive school day experience.

Our Menu

Packed Lunches

If you choose to provide your child with a packed lunch, we kindly ask that it supports our commitment to healthy eating. Packed lunches should contain a balanced selection of foods and should not include sweets, chocolate bars as confectionery items, or fizzy drinks. Energy drinks are strictly prohibited. We encourage pupils to bring water or other healthy drink options to support their wellbeing and learning throughout the school day.

Free School Meals

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), we strongly encourage you to register, even if they prefer to bring a packed lunch or are currently receiving Universal Infant Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2.

Registering for Free School Meals provides additional Pupil Premium funding to the school, which is used to enhance educational provision and provide additional support, resources and opportunities for eligible pupils. Registration may also enable your child to access additional benefits, support and enrichment opportunities throughout their time at school.

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and receives Universal Infant Free School Meals, it is still important to apply for Free School Meals if you are eligible. This ensures that both your child and the school receive all available funding and support. We encourage families to contact the school office if they would like advice or assistance with checking eligibility or completing an application.
