We welcome and celebrate the diversity of our community and are committed to ensuring that no member of our school community experiences discrimination on the basis of their age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or sexual orientation. These are known as the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.

Promoting Equality Through the Curriculum

Our bespoke curriculum reflects and celebrates the diversity of modern Britain and the wider world. Through learning opportunities, assemblies, educational visits and enrichment activities, pupils develop an understanding of different cultures, beliefs, identities and experiences.

We encourage children to challenge stereotypes, recognise prejudice and understand the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. Learning is carefully planned to ensure that all pupils can participate and achieve, regardless of their background or individual needs.

Gender Equality

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils have equal opportunities, regardless of gender. We do not make assumptions about children's interests, abilities or participation based on gender, and all pupils are encouraged to take part fully in every aspect of school life.

Participation in clubs, sporting activities, leadership opportunities and wider enrichment activities is monitored to ensure equality of access and engagement. We also review achievement data to identify and address any gaps in attainment or participation.

Race, Faith, Culture and Language

We are proud of the diversity within our school community and actively celebrate the different cultures, languages, faiths and family backgrounds represented in our school.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to racism, prejudice and discriminatory behaviour. Any incidents are dealt with promptly, appropriately and in line with our behaviour and safeguarding procedures. Where incidents occur, they are recorded, monitored and used to inform future preventative work.

Through our curriculum and wider school life, pupils learn about different beliefs, traditions and cultures, helping them to develop understanding, empathy and respect for others.

We also value and support pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL), recognising multilingualism as a strength. Appropriate support is provided to ensure that all pupils can access learning and participate fully in school life. Please see our EAL page for more information.

Inclusion and Accessibility

We strive to ensure that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), have full access to learning opportunities and the wider curriculum. We make reasonable adjustments where necessary and work closely with families and external professionals to ensure that individual needs are met effectively.
